Redevelopment of Elbert Ave Apartments

Since 1993, the Elbert Ave Apartments have served low-income families in the Arlandria-Chirilagua neighborhood in the City of Alexandria. Owned and managed by Community Lodgings, these 29 apartments have served to stabilize families coming out of homelessness and offered an affordable home for families who struggle to make ends meet. Originally built in the 1940s, the buildings are in dire need of repair and update. The time has come to reinvest in this property and transform this 80-year-old property into a modern, more dignified community for the hardworking people who live there.

In 2019, the Community Lodgings Board of Directors embarked on a journey to explore options to develop and modernize the Elbert Avenue Apartments. Rather than “band-aid” fixes to the aging property, we are striving to build an entirely new building to not only better serve the needs of the current Elbert Ave Apartments residents with modernized facilities, but also to expand affordable housing options in the neighborhood to so that Arlandria-Chirilagua remains accessible to all.

Reurbanización de Elbert Ave Apartments

Desde 1993, los Apartamentos Elbert Ave han servido a familias de bajos ingresos en el vecindario Arlandria-Chirilagua en la ciudad de Alexandria. Propiedad y administración de Community Lodgings, estos 28 apartamentos han servido para estabilizar a las familias que salen de la falta de vivienda y han ofrecido un hogar asequible para las familias que luchan por llegar a fin de mes. Construidos originalmente en la década de 1940, los edificios necesitan urgentemente reparaciones y actualizaciones. Ha llegado el momento de reinvertir en esta propiedad y transformar esta propiedad de 80 años en una comunidad moderna y más digna para las personas trabajadoras que viven allí.

Community Engagement and Information Sessions

Community Lodgings will host a series of in-person community engagement opportunities regarding the redevelopment project. The community is invited to provide feedback and ask questions during this process. Access and information regarding these meetings will be posted on this page and the community will be notified through public notification.
